Squirrel's Nest

OMG; we found the world's largest squirrel's nest when we removed the bathroom fixtures. It was between the tub and the wall. So sorry squirrels. Pat is working very hard to get it in the dry, almost all the holes in the roof on the right side of the house is ready to have a new roof put on and then that will take care of one of the worst parts of the roof. Just removing those green fixtures was a big chore, they weighed a ton. Slowly coming along. Kay

Restoration in February and March 2010

Pat has been extremely busy working on the house - everything from removing trash to foundation work. We have found many interesting items as well as critters in and outside of the home. Right now, we have a few bats which will soon be finding a new home. Some items of interest are a star pin, a Masonic certificate, magazines, Reader's Digests and a letter from an astrologist from the early 1900's.

This home has some great qualities. Unfortunately, many people (trespassers) have caused damage to the home over the last several years while abandoned. Pat will try to preserve what he can to keep as much of it as original as possible.

We have a vision and can't wait to unveil the final product. It will be many months, though. Please check back periodically to see what else we've accomplished.

And the journey begins...

Home was purchased February 12, 2010 by Pat and Kay Carroll of Farmerville, La. It has been our dream for many years to "save" this abandoned home. Our plans are to restore the home and open as a B&B. Boy, do we have work to do!
